Ease of use

What We Like

  • Meat temperature guide is easy to read
  • Risk-free purchase
  • Shuts off automatically
  • Option to keep the reading on the display

What We Don't Like

  • Not waterproof or water resistant
  • Weak built-in magnet
  • The tapered probe end is slightly dull and requires a bit of a push to sink into dense meat.

Having a meat thermometer in your arsenal of kitchen utensils isn’t just convenient, but it’s also a great way to protect yourself and your family from potentially contracting a foodborne illness. Bacteria lie in the majority of all meats and food, and unless cooked to a certain temperature, some of those bacteria remain.

Especially with meat, it’s never a good idea to determine if it’s fully prepared by simply eyeing it. For that, you would need a good-quality meat thermometer. We reviewed the GDealer Waterproof Digital Instant-Read Meat Thermometer to determine how well it works and what’s offered with the purchase. Do you get what you pay for?

GDealer is an international brand that specializes in providing their customers with a wide range of products. It is their mission to ensure that the consumers who purchase their products are guaranteed to get high-quality items at affordable prices.

Not only do they design, manufacture, and sell their own meat thermometers, but they also provide lighting solutions, gas detectors, accessories, oil diffusers, and more. We reviewed the GDealer Waterproof Digital Instant-Read Meat Thermometer because it is currently their newest model.

Who Is this Product for?

Meat thermometers should be used by anyone who cooks meat, other food items, and by anyone who needs to heat liquids to a specific temperature. Whether you’re a professional chef, stay-at-home cook, a new mom who needs to warm milk, or a culinary student who needs their own tools, you can benefit from a meat thermometer.

It is recommended that it stays out of the reach of young children, though. Since the metal probe is typically sharp enough to penetrate the meat, it is dangerous in the hands of toddlers.

What’s Included?

There is always a benefit with purchasing small products, and that benefit is that you don’t need to spend your time putting it together. When you buy the GDealer Waterproof Thermometer, you get the thermometer itself, and the battery is included and already installed.

What’s more is that it also comes with a user manual that teaches you about the features that the thermometer offers. The package also includes usage instructions and all the important company information.

Overview of the Features

The GDealer Waterproof Digital Instant-Read Meat Thermometer is impressive and comes with a wide range of features that make it useful for everyone. It provides a fast read-out in under four seconds, is accurate to within one degree, and features a temperature range of -58◦F to 572◦F (-50◦C to 300◦C.)

The thermometer is not a leave-in thermometer though, but it can be used on the grill, turkey fryer, food in the oven, and frying oil. It can also be used when gauging the temperature of wines, beers, milk, and other liquids.

GDealer listened to their customers by upgrading their model with an IP67 waterproof rating. It also features a temperature hold button, an automatic shut-off feature that turns the thermometer off after 10 minutes, Fahrenheit and Celsius switch, backlit LCD screen, and more.

The probe used to gauge the temperature is a 4.6-inch-long, stainless steel, food-grade probe that can rotate 180 degrees and folds shut. The thermometer itself is crafted out of sturdy plastic and features a hanging hook along with a built-in magnet for easy storage.

How to Calibrate a Meat Thermometer?

There are two primary methods of calibrating your meat thermometer. The first method suggests that you use ice cold water, while the other suggests that you use water brought to a rolling boil.

GDealer recommends using the ice cold water method to calibrate their thermometer for optimal results. Here’s how to do it:

  1. Fill a glass with ice and follow it up by filling the glass with cold water.
  2. Stir the ice and cold water and then let stand for at least three minutes.
  3. Stir the ice water once again.
  4. Insert the stainless steel probe into the ice water, making sure that you are careful not to touch the sides or bottom of the glass.
  5. Wait until the temperature read-out displays.
  6. Make a note of the reading and make any required adjustments.

When searching out and reviewing alternatives, we wanted to find one that offered the same features as the GDealer thermometer but also provided a bit more, in case you want to spend just a couple extra dollars. When we found the Kizen Instapen Pro Instant-Read Meat Thermometer, we knew we found the best alternative.

While it is slightly more expensive, the Kizen Instapen is waterproof, provides a temperature read-out in less than three seconds, and has a broad temperature range. It’s also made out of sturdy ABS plastic, has a backlit LCD screen, a digital voice read-out function, magnetic back and holding hook, as well as an included box full of bonus goodies.

There is a reason that the GDealer Waterproof Digital Instant-Read Meat Thermometer is one of the top-selling thermometers. It’s highly reliable, durable, accurate, and waterproof. It has an affordable price tag, which makes it convenient for the majority of people. We were definitely able to see why it’s their most upgraded model.

If you are looking for something that has the essential features of a digital thermometer but is as easy to use as a standard analog thermometer, this is the one for you. If you’re looking for something with some extra bells and whistles, we suggest looking at the Kizen.

Whichever one you choose, you can’t go wrong, and your family meals are going to be safer because of it.
